September is here and summer is almost over, but I have a couple of mermaid looks for you coming up! I'm officially starting makeup school and I couldn't be more excited (and that's why I haven't been able to post in the past few days) so I decided to keep aside today's look and the next one to celebrate this event! :D
(I'll try to keep up and maintain a regular blogging schedule, however if you don't see any new posts for some days just know I'm not being lazy, I'm just focusing on school! But I'll do my best to keep posting as I usually do!)
Also, apparently today is National Mermaid Day - so one more thing to celebrate... And this makeup is really appropriate XD
Today's look is one of my very favourite I've made during the past months, to the point I even considered to use it as my profile pic!
I saw this cute mermaid tail/fin eyeliner style one day on Instagram (credits to @caramariemakeup) and of course I HAD to try it - and it was the perfect occasion to create a whole new mermaid makeup, needless to say XD

I saw this cute mermaid tail/fin eyeliner style one day on Instagram (credits to @caramariemakeup) and of course I HAD to try it - and it was the perfect occasion to create a whole new mermaid makeup, needless to say XD
I used a lot of green and teal shades - as I always do in these occasions, I can't help XD - and I literally drowned the lids in glitters. I wanted a strong sparkling mermaid scales effect, but I also wanted to keep the outer blending almost all matte - I thought it could be a nice contrast!
The eyeliner is basically a classical winged line with a little, mermaid twist: the tip of the wing splits and becomes fins ;D Such a tiny detail, yet so effective and dramatic! I wonder why I don't wear it on a daily basis haha XD

After priming my lids, I started off with the matte blending. First of all, I applied Dragonfly eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics on the crease, outer corner area and also on the lower lid. After blending it a little, as a preliminary step, I applied Under Pressure eyeshadow by NABLA Cosmetics on the outer corner and, partially, on the crease. Then I went back to Dragonfly and blended it more by using Shore Thing by MUG as transition shade.
At this point I had to clean up the lid area and carve the round cut crease shape - to do so, I simply used my foundation (Pro Longwear in NW15 by MAC Cosmetics). Once I was done with the carving, I applied two MUG eyeshadows on the lid: firstly I applied Poolside on the first half, then I applied Shark Bait on the second half (and I blended it with Under Pressure, which I actually ended up intensify even more). I applied Shark Bait on the lower lid too.
Lilac is my favourite shade to pair with green colours, so I used Chit Chat by MUG as inner corner highlighter (which is a periwinkle, though). I also applied Antique White on my brow bone and Nocturne on my lower lashline.
Before moving to the glitters application I always prefer to apply eyeliner first - this way it's easier and also the glitters don't clog the tip of the eyeliner.
As I previously said, this is a basic winged liner with fins - so first I drew the line as I always do. When I completed the wing, I carefully added the fins - easier done than said, trust me!
Once I was done and happy with the end result, I could finally apply the glitters! I used two different shades of pressed glitters by GlitterTubes, as I wanted to create some sort of gradient. I applied Dory on the first half of the lid (right where I previously applied Poolside) and Splash on the second half (on top of Shark Bait). I "blended" Splash towards the outer corner in a way it looked like it was fading.
At this point I was pretty much done: all I had to do to complete the look was apply a black eyepencil on the waterline (as always, Feline by MAC Cosmetics), false lashes and mascara.
