I'm baaack! And so is The Mermaid Series! *_*
I'm sorry for the lack of posts last week, but I spent my spare time planning and re-planning my blog schedule - I've plenty of makeup looks, plus empties, summer favourites/most played and many reviews to post, but I had to sort them out a bit due to my decision to write in English only from now on.

Today I'm going to show you another mermaid makeup, this time inspired by the well-known mermaid movie Aquamarine. No need to say that is one of my favourite movies in the whole world :p

"We are not fictional! We're just discreet!"

A tiny teeny plot recap for those of you that haven't seen the movie yet: Aquamarine is a mermaid that needs to prove her father that true love exist, to avoid an unwanted and arranged marriage. During a violent storm, she gets thrown into a seaside pool, due to the strong waves. She's found by two human teenagers, Haley and Claire - that will help her to win Raymond's heart (the human she set her eyes on). Because who helps a mermaid, gets a wish.

The thing I love the most about this movie is how mermaids are depicted. They can have legs during the day, so they can control the transformation somehow... But will get fins at the sunset so they have to be close to the water. Obviously, they get fins as soon as they touch the water.
As Aquamarine states herself: "We [mermaids] are not fictional! We're just discreet!" (which I can totally confirm ;D) and, if you help a mermaid you get a wish. That was new even for me, I didn't know we were some sort of genies of the lamp underwater edition XD

Yes, this is how we mermaids take baths in a bathtub u.u

I've been wanting to do an Aquamarine inspired look since episode 1 of this Mermaid Series. Both because I love her and her movie, but also because I'm pretty obsessed with every kind of aqua shades - as you probably noticed a while ago XD

I wanted to create a soft but bright look, using the more aqua/teal I could. No black eyeliner, no black eyepencil, no dark shades - just mermaid colours, sparkly and glittering.

My main concern was to achieve that particular aquamarine shade of her tail. Sounds crazy, but I don't have a specific eyeshadow in that colour - some were too green, some too blue. So I decided to play with a coloured base and layered shadows.

First of all I applied my favourite eyeprimer (Too Faced Shadow Insurance Original), then I applied a silver eyepencil all over the lid - as I knew it'd help get that touch of silver I needed. After that, I applied my favourite (and only) caribbean blue eyeshadow (Dreamy Aquamarine by U-Makeitup - yeah, quite appropriate XD), pressing it into the silver base. Still too blue though, so I layered Frozen by NABLA Cosmetics all over it, finally achieving the desired shade. Same steps for the lower lid - time-consuming but definitely worth of.

For the outer corner I used Chatter Mark by NABLA Cosmetics, layered with a touch of Dreamy Aquamarine and Frozen - resulting such an unique shade I wish I had ready to use everyday. Fossil is the transition colour I chose for this look, to blend the outer colour into a soft V shape. On my brow bone I applied Antique White, while on my inner corner I used Sensuelle.

I created the eyeliner by using the eyeshadow in Under Pressure by NABLA Cosmetics wet with Fix +. Black would be too harsh, that's why I chose a teal shade for this - and also for my waterline, where I used a teal eyepencil instead of my usual black one.
Lastly, I applied false lashes and mascara. And we are done!

I was a little worried the final result wouldn't match my (high) expectations: I'm really fond of this movie and Aquamarine herself, I wanted to do my best for her inspired look. In the end I'm very proud and satisfied: even though I didn't have the proper shades ready to use I managed to create them, and it turned out to be exactly how I pictured it in my mind *___* It perfectly embodies her, in my opinion, and also gives so many mermaid vibes! ♥
