♕ Halloween 2016 ♕ Dark Little Mermaid ♕

Happy Halloween everyone! Today I'm going to show you the last look I made to celebrate Halloween 2016 - the final one in this small series of non-creepy, non-spooky and non-bloody makeup looks XD

This is the most recent and new look I made for the disneyncolor makeup challenge that takes places on Instagram every month. This time they chose the Dark Disney Princesses theme - to my great relief, did I mention I'm not into scary looks? XD
Unfortunately I had a crazy busy week and I couldn't do them all, but at the same time I couldn't skip my favourite princess - no matter what.

I've already done a Dark Princess Ariel look less than one year ago (here it is!), so this time I decided to go for a Dark Little Mermaid look - same character, same princess, different versions ;D

I wanted three things for this looks: to be dark but sparkly, featuring a graphic liner and, needless to say, mermaid scales. The Mermaid Collection by NABLA Cosmetics came in really handy, because it features all the shades I needed: a dark teal (Under Pressure), a bright lilac for the details (Calypso) and a sparkly top coat (Selfish).
The graphic liner was inspired by an amazing artist I follow on Instagram: @swayzemorgan, check her out, her style is so unique! ♥

First of all I applied the eyeprimer - this time, going all the way down on my cheekbones, as I needed a base for the scales patter. Then, instead of start doing my eye look like I usually do, I went straight ahead to the scales: I took the piece of net fabric I always use, placed it on my cheek and, using a flat top concealer brush, I dabbed Under Pressure over it - creating the scales pattern. Without removing the net, I added a layer of Selfish - achieving the sparkly effect I was looking for. Seriously, Selfish is the most amazing eyeshadow ever, I wish you could see the duochrome in picture ç_ç It was so mermaid-y!

Once I was done with the scales, I moved back to the eyes. I wanted Under Pressure to be darker than it already is, so I applied a black eyepencil (as always, Feline Eye Kohl by MAC Cosmetics) first, all over the lid, barely blending it. Then, I applied Under Pressure over it, pressing it into the black base. I blended it towards the lid, using Narciso as transition shade. Same on the lower lid. Done that, I applied Selfish all over, as a top coat - to achieve the same sparkles as the scales.

Graphic liner time! I created my eyeliner as always with a black pigment mixed with Fix + and drew a classic line first, with the wing on the outer corner. Then I went up and back, towards the crease, drawing the first additional line. On the inner corner I drew the pointy edge first, then the second additional line - going back and then outwards. I mixed Calypso with some Fix + too, and added the details following the additional lines. (I used, for all of these small lines, the finest eyeliner brush I own).

Final steps: I applied Sensuelle on the inner corner (carefully avoiding to smudge the eyeliner point) and Antique White on my brow bone. Lastly, black eyepencil on waterline and lashline, false lashes and mascara.

I'm so happy with this look! Loved it so so much - mostly because of Selfish, that makes everything look magic *_* And of course the graphic liner did its part, you know I'm all about eyeliner - especially when it comes to graphic styles like this one!
On second thoughts, the only thing I'd change are the scales - spreading all over the cheekbones and not only in a small portion, maybe going up to the temples too.

♕ Halloween 2016 ♕ Joker ~ Suicide Squad ♕

When I was asked to do Harley Quinn's inspired look, I knew I had to do also a Joker inspired look - they're "the King and Queen of Gotham City", after all. Also, I liked Jared Leto's Joker a lot - definitely my favourite Joker so far - sooo I couldn't leave him out u.u
And, since Halloween is approaching so fast, I thought this could be part of this year's Halloween series ;D

Contrary to Harley Quinn's look - which was quick, easy and messy on purpose, and pretty iconic - this one required a lot of brainstorming. I wanted to do an inspired makeup, not an actual Joker movie look, if you know what I mean. No erased nor green brows, for example. So I had to choose what colours to use first, and then place them properly. Tricky but worth it - I think it represents Joker quite well, let me know your thoughts ;D

Eyeprimer first, black base second - as usual, Feline Eye Kohl by MAC Cosmetics (the best black eyepencil I've tried so far). I applied a thin layer, as I wanted a not-too-black result; then I applied Nocturne by NABLA Cosmetics over it - it's a matte black eyeshadow, but not the blackest. On the lower lid I used the black eyeshadow only, blending it out evenly.

For the crease I choose a matte purple shade, Mimesis by NABLA: I applied it into the crease using a pencil brush, blending it with the black. I used Narciso as transition colour to soften the blending. On the inner corner I applied a bright green pigment - Jade Pearl loose eyeshadow by NYX - a little tribute to Joker's iconic green hair.

I made the eyeliner using a silver eyeshadow wet with Fix + (as always, Frozen by NABLA, practically perfect in every way), gently scratching some product from the pan, as I don't like to get the pan wet.
I left the lower waterline nude - no pencil at all - but I added a touch of red on the lashline (Fahrenheit by NABLA). Lastly, I applied Antique White on my brow bone, false lashes and mascara (just on my upper lashes, this time). Final touch: I draw the J right below the outer corner, using the black pigment I usually use as eyeliner and the finer eyeliner brush I own.
That's it for my Joker inspired make up - evocative and eye-catching, but not that hard to recreate I guess. Very happy with the result, plus I managed to use all the colours I thought would fit the Joker. Again, let me know what you think about it!
Needless to say, this look also requires bright red lips - just like Harley Quinn's!

♕ Halloween 2016 ♕ Harley Quinn ~ Suicide Squad ♕

Second Halloween look, featuring a trending character that is surely going to be one of the most popular Halloween costume this year: Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad movie!
This was requested on Instagram by one of my followers, which really made me happy - I love requests and had so much fun creating this look!

As you can see my look is a little bit different from the original - I wanted to stick to it but, at the same time, I also wanted to add my personal touch. As always.
So, instead, of one colour per eye, I used both red and blue altogether. I think it's a nice twist - plus these two colours works greatly together! It's a very easy and quick look to make, and sooo much fun when it comes to the smudge-on-purpose part. The more smudgier, the messier - the better!

First step, eyeprimer. For the red parts I used a red lip pencil as a base - since I don't own any bright pure red shadows I needed a little help. I blended/smudged it with my finger, then I applied Fahrenheit by NABLA Cosmetics - just a thin layer, to keep the lip pencil in place without altering the red shade. For the blue parts I used just an eyeshadow - Eternity by NABLA, bright and pigmented on its own so no blue base needed. I applied it on the outer part of the lid and on the outer corner, blending it into the crease. I smudged it on the outer corner almost randomly, both using fingers and various brushes. I used a white pigment to give the illusion of watery streaks - which you can barely see in picture, sadly. As I said before: the smudgier and messier the better, there's no wrong way or right way.

I used the same white pigment as transition shade and on the inner corner - kept it very simple.
The original movie look didn't include any dramatic and graphic eyeliner (just a smudge touch I guess) but I did a long and thing line anyway XD I also applied a black eyepencil on the lower waterline and lashline, this time just gently blending it - like I usually do for my looks.
I applied false lashes and mascara, blended a soft touch of Antique White on my brow bone and lastly, the icing on the cake, I draw a small heart right below my lower lid.

And we are done! So happy with the final result, it's exactly like I wanted it to be. Probably one of the easiest look I've ever made - but sooo eye-catching! I think that a lighter and brighter blue would fit better - but I do my best and use what I own. That being said, anyway, Eternity did its job wonderfully *-*

If you're going be Harley Quinn for Halloween and you want (or need) this look to be closer to the original one, just use one colour per eye - easier and quicker ;D
This look must go with bright red lips, needless to say u.u Keep them well defined or smudge them too - as you prefer. If I had to choose, I'd go for defined lips, to contrast the messy eye makeup!

♕ Halloween 2016 ♕ Mermaid Look ♕

I've just realized that Halloween is right around the corner - and I haven't posted any of the related looks I planned yet! D: And I have, like, 4 makeup I put aside to celebrate Halloween - plus one more unreleased on my Instagram yet. And now I have less than one week left. Greeeeat.

Okay, enough with this rant. Let's start this small Halloween series!
As I said, I made some of these looks during the past months - and then saved them for Halloween. Must say, I'm not into creepy, bloody and scary looks - I'm really sensitive, even though I know it's just fake blood and wax I get scared by SFX looks XD So, sorry in advance if my makeup looks might result a little too "quiet" for Halloween XD

I made today's look during the 100 Days of Make Up challenge back on May, inspired by an amazing mermaid makeup by lucinda212 on Instagram (check her out, she's beyond skilled and talented!).

(Credits to lucinda212 on Instagram)

Breathtaking, isn't it? *___* Love at first sight, I had to try it - even though I don't own any kind of glitters (I-need-glitters!!), just an handful on clear crystals and I also don't have the matte shades required. But who cares? No big deal! I decided to follow the pattern and the main colour scheme overall - but to adapt it to my needs and preferences, adding my personal touch.

First of all: eyeprimer. I applied it all over the lid as usual, but this time I needed to apply it over my eyebrow, on my nose bridge and cheek. I did the scales first, so I took a piece of a net fabric and placed it where needed, dabbing it with different shadows. I used two light blue shades (Dreamy Aquamarine by U-Makeitup and an old, discontinued matte pigment named Skyline) and a darker one (Babylon by NABLA Cosmetics).

On the lid I applied, starting from the inner corner, Babylon, Atmosphere and Aurum. I draw I neat shape on the inner corner, while I blended out the lighter shade on the outside - being careful not to wipe out the scales. I draw the line under the eyebrow with Babylon, and I applied over it a light, bright blue pigment. I dabbed the same shadow on the inner corner too. I used the Skyline pigment wet as eyeliner, winging it out - the original look featured a darker, not winged eyeliner.

I applied false lashes and mascara, dabbing the lower ones with the bright blue pigment. Then I applied a teal eyepencil on my waterline and I was done with the lid.
I moved to the eyebrows: I used bright pigment to draw and fill the first part of the brow, stopping right before the tail. There I applied Dreamy Aquamarine, creating a soft gradient. Both pigments were used wet.

I completed the lood by adding crystals here and there. I really wish I had more in different shades and sizes! They add so much light to the scales pattern... Making it look like real scales. Same for the glitter, which are totally absent here sadly.

This look was really really challenging and time consuming - but totally worth it! I had so much fun, it was so sparkly, bright and mermaid-y - 100% my cup of tea! *___* I should wear something like this when I go mermaiding during summer - it matches my tail so well :p

♕ Jewel Eyeliner ♕{100 Days of Make Up ~ Day 33}

During the 100 Days of Make Up Challenge I learnt to experiment and play with makeup like I never did in the past. I tried different techniques and styles - sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing. I also learnt to improvise, even on those days when I had zero idea and inspiration. The makeup look I'm going to show you today was born on one of those days... And turned out pretty cool! I used crystals to create a jewel eyeliner - hence the title!

That day I was uninspired - which is quite depressing actually - but I pushed myself to create something anyway. When I feel that way, I tend to grab my favourite shadows, the ones that make me feel comfortable the most - and so I did that day too. I picked up Frozen, Babylon, Baltic (all eyeshadows by NABLA Cosmetics - the Mermaid Collection wasn't there yet), an handful of crystals and started playing around.

At the beginning I thought I would do a normal smokey eyes, using dark blues and greens with an hint of silver. So, after applying the eyeprimer, I applied all over the lid the Feline Eye Kohl by MAC Cosmetics - blending it out with a pencil brush. I wanted no sharp edges, so I did a lot of preliminary blending - because if you blend nicely the base, you are halfway done. Then, over the black layer, I applied Baltic - a dark shade on its own, that gained more depth thanks to the base. On the crease, I applied Eternity (which is lighter and brighter than Baltic) and Babylon, to add a touch of petrol green to the look.  I blended and blended (again, so sharp edges, just soft shapes), creating a C shape. I used Fossil as transition colour, and did the very same steps on the lower lid too.

As I said before, I had some crystals - so I decided to place them randomly at first, on the outer corner. I placed the big teal one right at the end, where the lids connect, then I placed a clear crystal right to it... And another... And another...
Then, the inspiration! Crystal eyeliner, jewel style. I just had to keep placing the rhinestones on the lid, following the upper lashline as close as I could. When I was halfway I realized I didn't have enough small crystals - panic! What could I do? Then I thought I could just use Frozen, my favourite silver eyeshadow EVER, wet as eyeliner... And create small dots to replace the missing crystals.
So that's what I did - and it worked! Yes, I'm still surprised by the result XD

Final steps, as usual: Antique White on the brow bone, falsies, mascara, black eyepencil on the waterline. Oh, and Frozen on the inner corner - it's so precious!

So here's an unplanned, unexpected, totally improvised look that, in the end, was a success ♥ I'm still impressed on how it turned out, since I was so uninspired that day! This crystal eyeliner really looks like a jewel - and I wish I could capture its sparkles and brightness in picture!

♕ Summer Most Played ♕

I haven't written any Most Played post during the last year - shame on me, shame on my cow. I don't even know why, these kind of posts are so fun to write and also to read. Anyway, after the longest time ever, I finally managed to put together and post one - yay me! #Teammostplayed power u.u

Before we get started, I want to explain how I'm going to handle & schedule my Most Played posts from now on. I'd love to post monthly like I used to - and like it is supposed to be - but I seem unable to do so (meaning that I tend to procrastinate and end up with two/three months piled up). Also I don't switch products that often, and when it happens it depends on new launches, personal necessities... Thus, I may not have new stuff to include each month - resulting in not-so-exciting posts.
That being said, I decided to post one Most Played every three months: basically it'll became a seasonal appointment where I'll gather all the products I used the most - both favourites and non favourites, mind you. I think this schedule will work better for me, let's start this new adventure with my Summer Most Played (I know I'm waaay late with this, but better later then never right?)

I have sooooo many things to show you, last summer was full of new entries & new favourites - I couldn't fit all the products in one picture!
Let's start with NABLA Cosmetics' most used products, they're quite a few!

 Since their launch at the end of May, I've been using all the shades I bought from the Blossom Blush and the Shade & Glow range. I use every blush on a rotation basis - depending on what I'm wearing, on my makeup or just my mood. Impulse is by far my favourite (top row, first on the right), Daisy and Beloved are very cute though! (Respectively first on the left and the one in the middle, top row)
Loving the highlighters too - also as eyeshadows! Can't pick a favourite between the two. (Bottom row: Angel is the first on the left, Baby Glow in the middle). Gotham (bottom row, first on the right) is the only sculpt shade I own - and I'm fine with that, I'm still trying to learn how to contour and this colour works just fine.
{Overview here}

The eyeshadows from the Mermaid Collection(*) were definitely my most used and also most loved items of the entire summer. Launched on July, I started using them right away - and I never stopped, basically. (Check out The Mermaid Series to see all the looks I created with them so far!)
After a couple of months, I must say I love all the shades included - apart from Chemical Bond, which still feels off topic. The new Celestial shadows are so good, add a special touch to any makeup; the "normal" shadows are great as usual, it's are to pick a favourite... I'd say I love Under Pressure and Calypso above all, plus Sensuelle and Selfish from the Celestial range. As well as the Superbright - Calypso is the first and only that feature this new texture and honestly, we need more eyeshadows like that - it's unbelievably beautiful! ♥ I really, really hope NABLA will introduce more Celestials and Superbrights in the winter collection *_* (Yeah I'm already dreaming of the new collection XD December is quite close after all!)
{Overview here}

Sticking to mermaid themed stuff, Spectrum Collections launched new Mermaid makeup brushes aka the BombShell Brush Set(*) ♥ Though they debuted on September the 23rd (so they should be included in the Autumn most played) I was so lucky to receive them way before the launch - giving me the opportunity to test and use them during the summer.
Needless to say, I love them - and not just because of their (beautiful) looks. I really like the quality, the details, the range, the super-soft bristles - everything. They surely made my summer! (Which, no doubt, will go down in history as the most mermazing summer ever!)
{Overview here}

Along with the new brushes, I also got Spectrum's unique brush soap - named Unicorn Horn Polish(*) Whoever suggests/invents these names, is a flipping genius XD
I've used it since then and it really changed my brush cleaning game - it's easy and very quick to use, just need to wet a brush, swirl it into the tin until it gets foamy, then rinse and repeat. Combined with the Brush Heart(*) I manage to clean all my brushes way quickly but still deeply. Easier done than said, seriously!

Moving to MAC Cosmetics stuff, I bought quite some stuff as you can see - all things I used almost every day!
The Brush Cleanser is my go-to cleanser when it comes for daily, spot cleaning. I'm running now again, need to repurchase asap! Most played product ever, since the very beginning.
After some year I purchased again Fix +, mostly to wet eyeshadows/pigments and make eyeliners - but also as a fixer, of course.
I also got some false lashes (the ones I used the most were n° 34 and n° 36, while I haven't used the individual ones yet) and the well known DUO lash glue.
I bought some eyeshadow and blending brushes - but I'm going to write a full post about them soon, so I'm not going to get down to the details.
Last but not least, I got the Eyebrow pencil in Strut - the perfect shade for me, being a redhead. And you can tell I used it everyday - just look at my looks for the past three months or so XD Love it, missing deeply its shade.

For my everyday makeu, I used a lot (and I mean, A LOT) another beautiful new entry in my stash: the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay. Isn't it neat? *__*
Out of all the Naked palettes, this is surely the one the fits me and my style better. A lot of pinkish shades, a lot of shimmer/satin shadows and a couple of mattes for good measure. Whenever I need to get ready quickly, or if I wanted a soft, classy makeup, I just had to grab this beauty - the rest is history.
I need to write a full post about this palette too, I have so many thing to say (pros & cons, most liked shades and least liked shades...)! At the moment I'm very happy with it - a princess palette, perfect for any Damsel in (makeup) Distress! (Can you guess the quote? XD)

Now let's talk about beach products: sunscreen, aftersun - bare necessities for both humans and mermaids ;D (Which didn't fit in the main pic!)

This past summer I tried a new sunscreen - mind you, not because I really wanted to, but because my holy grail sunscreen was sold out. I chose the Sun lotion for Kids 50 SPF by Anthyllis - the only available option at the time - as I have to use sunscreens with a 50 SPF or even more, and that day everything else was sold out. I'll get right to the point: I didn't like it. Too fluid (and the top-down packaging doesn't help), not resistant to water, not 100% effective - I got some slight irritations the first couple of days. So it's a nope for me - I really wished I waited a bit and got a different sunscreen. Next year back to my holy grail aka the sunscreen by Alga Maris {review}, for Neptune's sake.
Two products I also loved last year and I used again this summer are the AfterSun Lotion with Coconut & Monoi by Alkemilla and Brezza Luminosa/Radiant Breeze by Biofficina Toscana. The first one, as you can tell by its name, is an aftersun: soothing, fresh, moisturizing - with the most amazing and inebriating scent ever *_*

Brezza Luminosa is a two-phase fluid, another soothing product with a glamorous twist: it's filled with small glitters and thus makes the skin sparkly *_* Nothing extreme - just a gentle shimmering effect that looks really lovely! It's an "all-over" product you can use on body, face and also hair - but I use it only on body and hair, spraying it whenever I felt the need and let it sink in. It's really refreshing and soothing, such a relief on those hot days. Love love love!

Lastly, another must have when it comes to summer products: my holy grail face primer, Avant Première Base Lissante Velour (Mattifying) by Couleur Caramel. I just can't deal with hot temperature without this primer - while I don't need it during wintertime, it's a "seasonal" product so to speak.
{First Impressions here}

That's all for Summer 2016! Congrats if you made it to the end XD
Any products in common? What's your top three most used products of this past summer?

♕ The Mermaid Series ♕ Dark Siren Eyes ♕{Feat. Nabla Cosmetics ~ Mermaid Collection}

Today's makeup is the last one I made using only the eyeshadows from the Mermaid Collection by NABLA Cosmetics - don't worry though, this series is not ended at all! I will never, never run out of mermaid looks ;D

This final look features deep shades, bright eyeliner, both sparkly and matte shadows - makes me think of sirens, dangerous enchantresses of the deepest and darkest seas. I'm so excited to be able to finally post it here, I love this makeup so much *_*

When I created this look I wanted to try to use Under Pressure over a black base and Calypso as eyeliner. So I went for the halo eyes technique, instead of my usual gradient/smokey eyes.

Almost every time I do halo eyes I use a pencil as base, to mark the parts of the eyelid where I need to place the darker shade, leaving the centre empty (sometimes I use a second, lighter pencil there). So this time I used a black eyepencil - as always, Feline by MAC Cosmetics, my current holy grail black pencil. Let's see the procedure in depth.

First of all, eyeprimer; second of all, black eyepencil: I applied it everywhere on the lid, apart from the centre - which I left empty, this time. Then I applied Under Pressure wherever I applied the eyepencil, gently pressing the powder over the black pencil.
On the empty space - the centre - I applied one of the beautiful Celestial eyeshadows: Selfish, the mermaid scale's colour of this collection. I did the same on the lower lid.

Then I worked on the crease: first of all I used Mimesis to gently and softly blend Under Pressure (and I did so on the lower lid too); then I used a mix of Peach Velvet and Narciso as main transition colour - followed by a lot of wax on, wax off. And I mean A LOT. I patiently blended and blended, adding from time to time an hint of Peach Velvet and Narciso when needed. Lastly, I used Fossil to soften more the transition. You can tell I really worked on that blending XD

Now the fun part: bright eyeliner! I gently scratched Calypso and collected the powder into a small jar, then I poured a couple of drops of Fix + into the jar. I mixed it with my eyeliner brush, until I reached a not too liquid not too dense mixture - and then I just applied it like aI would do with a normal eyeliner.

Final touches: Antique White on my brow bone, my beloved highlighting combo Sugar+Sensuelle on my inner corner, black eyepencil (Feline, again) on my waterline and lashline, false lashes and mascara.

This is, without any doubt, one of my favourite look I made so far for the Mermaid Series - and also one of my favourite ever *_* Loved the result, Under Pressure is breathtaking when applied over a black base, Selfish looks so good with it and Calypso confirms is beauty and versatility. I love it to the point it was one of the three candidates makeup looks for the author picture on the blog homepage (but as you can see it didn't won).
