Post veloce veloce per mostrarvi un look che ho realizzato qualche settimana fa per provare Nereide, uno dei pochi ombretti della Mermaid Collection che non mi erano parsi del tutto in tema con la collezione. Il look stesso non è in tema sirene, né è inspirato ad una sirena in particolare: semplicemente, desideravo prendere confidenza con questo ombretto, realizzando qualcosa di semplice e basic. Per gli esperimenti più estrosi c'è sempre tempo.

Quick post today to show you a look I made a while back to try out Nereide, one of the few shades from the Mermaid Collection by NABLA Cosmetics I didn't feel like it fit the collection's atmosphere. The look itself isn't really mermaid-like, nor is inspired by a mermaid. I went for something really simple and basic - I needed to become familiar with this shadow first, leaving experiments for next time.  

Oltre a voler provare Nereide, volevo anche testare Chemical Bond - alias l'altra tonalità che mi aveva convinta poco nell'insieme della collezione. Così ho deciso di abbinarlo a Nereide: dato che condividono una base più o meno simile, ho pensato che fosse appropriato usarli insieme. Però, per evitare che il look finisse col risultare piatto, ho deciso di usare una base nera a cui sovrapporre Nereide. Il che, devo dire, mi ha fatto rivalutare un po' questo ombretto: gli ha donato profondità, rendendolo più scuro ed interessante in generale!

Along with Nereide, I wanted to try Chemical Bond - aka the other shade it feels a little off topic in this collections. So I decided to pair it with Nereide, since they basically share the same base I thought they would look good together. But, to avoid the look ending up being a little flat, I decided to use a black base under Nereide. Which, actually, made me reconsider this eyeshadow: the black base gives depth to it, making it darker and more interesting over all, to me!

Dopo aver applicato, come al solito, il primer occhi ho steso la matita nera a mo' di base nell'angolo esterno, sfumandola verso l'esterno, sulla palpebra mobile e appena verso l'interno della piega. 

Fatto questo, ho iniziato ad applicare Chemical Bond su tutta la palpebra mobile, anche sopra la zona con la base nera (senza andare però troppo nell'angolo esterno). Ho applicato Chemical Bond anche nella rima inferiore. Ho poi preso Nereide e l'ho applicato, pressandolo, nella zona su cui avevo steso e sfumato la base nera; l'ho sfumato anche con Chemical Bond, nel loro punto d'incontro, e l'ho applicato nella parte finale della palpebra inferiore. 

Ho sfumato Nereide con l'aiuto di Narciso, uno dei miei colori di transizione più usati in assoluto; nell'angolo interno ho applicato Sensuelle e sotto l'arcata sopraccigliare ho applicato Antique White.

Infine, ho completato il look applicando l'eyeliner (con tanto di puntina all'angolo interno), la matita nera (la stessa usata per la base) nella rima interna, le ciglia finte ed il mascara.

The first step was, as usual, applying the eyeprimer; after that I applied a black eyepencil on the outer corner, as a base, blending it out into a V shape, partially on the lid and also slightly towards the crease. 
Then, I applied Chemical Bond all over the base (also over the black base zone, just not too far outwards). I also applied Chemical Bond on the lower lid. After doing so, I applied Nereide on the outer corner, gently pressing it on the black base; I blended it with Chemical Bonds where the two shades touched, and I applied it on the outer part of the lower lid.
I blended Nereide using Narciso, one of my most used transition shades ever; on the inner corner I applied Sensuelle and Antique White on my brow bone.
Lastly, I added the finishing touches: eyeliner (pointed on the inner corner), black eyepencil (same one I used for the base) on the waterlines, falsies and mascara.

All'inizio, mentre iniziavo a realizzare questo trucco, ero abbastanza dubbiosa riguardo il risultato: temevo che finisse con l'essere troppo piatto, o troppo banale, troppo neutro - insomma, non nel mio stile. Ma devo dire che, grazie all'utilizzo della base nera in combo con Nereide, il risultato mi ha proprio colpita. Inoltre, la texture di Nereide ha aggiunto così tanta luce al trucco (brillini, brillini everywhere!) da renderlo decisamente poco banale.
È stato un risultato decisamente inatteso ma è proprio per questo che adoro il makeup: non smette mai di sorprendermi!

When I was first starting doing this look I was really unsure about the result: I was afraid it would be too flat, too banal, too neutral - not my style. But, in the end, I liked it - definitely, thanks to the black base + Nereide combo, which really surprised me. Also, Nereide's Celestial texture added so many sparkles to the look, making it not banal at all (thankfully!). This was quite unexpected but, hey!, that's what I love about makeup: it never fails to surprise me!

Erano secoli che desideravo realizzare un makeup ispirato alle sirene delle serie H₂O - Just Add Water e Mako Mermaids (rispettivamente serie originale e spin-off) - già da prima di ideare questa rubrica tematica. Come immaginerete, trattandosi di telefilm a tema sirene, entrambe le serie mi hanno appassionata non poco (anche se confesso di prediligere nettamente lo spin off) - insomma, il look dedicato era d'obbligo! 

La Mermaid Collection mi ha dato l'input e lo spunto necessario a procedere, sia perché uno degli ombretti proposti era perfetto per questo look (dopo capirete perché), sia perché sempre quell'ombretto si chiama come una delle sirene protagoniste della serie originale. 

Di chi sto parlando? Ma di Cleo, ovviamente! 

I've always wanted to create a H₂O Just Add Water/Mako Mermaids inspired look (respectively, original series and spin-off). I loved both shows - no wonder, since their both mermaid themed - even though I highly prefer Mako Mermaids over H₂O... So, I HAD to create a special look for them!
The Mermaid Collection by NABLA Cosmetics, recently launched, gave me the hint and inspiration to finally do it - thanks to one particular eyeshadow, which is not only perfect for this make up (I'll explain later why), but also has the same name of one of the H₂O mermaids. 
Did you guess what eyeshadow I'm talking about? Cleo, of course!

Cleo ~ H₂O Just Add Water

Lo ammetto, quando la collezione è stata presentata e ho letto il nome di Cleo, ho pensato istintivamente a due personaggi: l'omonimo pesciolino di Pinocchio e, appunto, all'omonima sirena di H₂O. Ciliegina sulla torta, Cleo è dorato, esattamente come le code di queste particolari sirene (che hanno code uguali sia per forma che per colore. Cosa che non mi è mai andata giù sinceramente, ma dettagli u.u) - motivo per cui ho dedicato il look a tutte le sirene di entrambi i telefilm piuttosto che alla sola Cleo.

Ad esso ho abbinato Unrestricted, che dopo attenta analisi si è rivelato non solo il compagno ideale per Cleo, ma anche l'ombretto più adatto a rappresentare i dettagli delle pinne di queste sirene tanto speciali. Per il resto il look è estremamente semplice, quasi banale, vedrete!

Must say, as soon as the collection was introduced and I read the name Cleo, I suddenly thought of two different characters: Pinocchio's goldfish, but most importantly it reminded me of Cleo Sertori from H₂O Just Add Water. The icing on the cake was the colour of this new shadow: warm gold, just like the H₂O/Mako mermaids (who all shares the same tails, both in terms of colours and shapes... I never enjoyed this particular detail, to be honest u.u) - and that's the main reason why I didn't do a specific Cleo Sertori look, but instead a whole H2O/Mako Mermaids inspired look.

Other than Cleo, I used Unrestricted for this make up - I was a little unsure about the supporting shade, must say. I wanted some reddish colour that could represent the fluke detailing - and Unrestricted ended up being the most perfect choice for this purpose. Overall, this look is really simple, almost banal!

Per prima cosa, come sempre, ho applicato il primer occhi (Shadow Insurance Original di Too Faced) su tutta la palpebra mobile, dopodiché ho iniziato ad applicare gli ombretti - partendo proprio da Cleo che ho applicato su due/terzi della palpebra mobile. Nella zona esterna rimasta nuda ho applicato Glitz, più scuro e bronzato rispetto a Cleo, per creare un po' di gradiente. 

Nell'angolo esterno ho applicato Unrestricted, sfumandolo a V con l'aiuto di Narciso. Ho scelto tale forma perché, in qualche modo, richiama la pinna della coda di una sirena ;D

Stesso schema di colori anche per la palpebra inferiore, mentre nell'angolo interno ho applicato Sensuelle aka l'illuminante per vere sirene; sotto l'arcata sopraccigliare ho piazzato come sempre l'adorato Antique White. 

L'eyeliner è sempre il solito (realizzato partendo da un pigmento nero minerale e bagnandolo col Fix +), linea lunga né troppo fine né troppo spessa. Anche gli step conclusivi sono sempre gli stessi - matita nera per la rima interna, sfumata tra le ciglia (effetto che mi piace sempre tantissimo ♥), ciglia finte e mascara (sempre il buon vecchio Le Film Noir che mi piace ancora tanto).

First of all: eyeprimer all over the lid (I used as usual the Shadow Insurance Original by Too Faced); then I applied Cleo on about two/thirds of the lid. On the empty third I applied Glitz, which is slightly darker and bronzer than Cleo, to add a little bit of depth and make a soft gradient. 

On the outer corner I applied Unrestricted, blended it into a V shape using Narciso as transition shade. I chose a v shape because it reminds me of a mermaid fin ;D
Same colour combination for the lower lid too; on the inner corner I applied Sensuelle aka the highlighter fit for a mermaid. On the brow bones I applied, as usual, Antique White.
I made the eyeliner on my own as usual, with a black loose pigment used wet with Fix +, tracing a long, not too fine nor thick line. The final steps are the same as always: black eyepencil on the waterlines (gently blended through the lashlines, which I really like ♥), falsies and mascara (Le Film Noir, long-time favourite).

Ho apprezzato molto questo look nonostante la sua semplicità: era esattamente ciò che avevo in mente per le sirene di H₂O/Mako! *___* Cleo e Unrestricted poi sono una coppia veramente vincente, se li avete entrambi dovete provare questa combinazione! :D 

I really, really enjoyed this look, even though it was really simple: it was exactly how I wanted it to be to represent the mermaids from this two shows! *___* Also, Cleo and Unrestricted make such a beautiful couple - if you own them both you definitely need to give them a try! :D

Il makeup di oggi, com'era già accaduto con il Treasure of a Mermaid look, non è ispirato ad una sirena in particolare - né ad un'ambiente marino, per la verità. Si tratta di un look estremamente semplice, realizzato con pochissimi colori, ma che riesce a risultare sofisticato e particolare senza essere complicato. Un look da sirena moderna, se vogliamo, glamour e poco convenzionale.

Today's make up isn't inspired by a particular mermaid or an underwater environment, like the Treasure of a Mermaid look. It's a very simple and easy look, I used just a handful of eyeshadows - yet it's sophisticated and not complicated at all. Kind of a modern mermaid makeup, if you will, glamorous and unconventional.

In questo look desideravo dare spazio a Sugar, che fino a quel momento avevo usato esclusivamente in combo con Sensuelle. Volevo separare questo dinamico duo per vedere come se la cavano in solitaria - inoltre ero curiosa di provare Sugar con una base bianca sotto per vedere come e quanto ciò ne alterasse il colore.

Ho deciso di abbinargli Juno Moon - abbiamo già appurato quanto sia perfetto nella piega e nell'angolo esterno, con lui si va sul sicuro. Il resto è solo lavoro di sfumatura ;D

I wanted to try Sugar on its own, since I've used it only paired with Sensuelle until then. I love that dynamic duo but I wanted to use each shade separately - also I was interested in using it on a white base, to see how much the colour would change.

I chose to use Juno Moon as crease/outer corner shade - I've already proved of gorgeous it 

Dopo aver applicato il primer occhi ho applicato la base bianca (aka una matita occhi) partendo dall'angolo interno e coprendo circa metà di palpebra mobile. All'angolo interno ho applicato Sensuelle usando un pennellino piccolo con setole rigide, mentre ho applicato Sugar su tre/quarti di palpebra mobile - lasciando vuota la zona esterna. A questo punto ho applicato Juno Moon partendo dalla parte di palpebra mobile rimasta vuota, sfumandolo con Sugar ottenendo una transizione quanto più possibile morbida e graduale; dopodiché l'ho applicato nell'angolo esterno, sfumandolo leggermente anche dentro la piega. La sfumatura è a V, ammorbidita con Circle che funge da colore di transizione; il colore sotto le sopracciglia come sempre è Antique White.
Ho completato il look con eyeliner, matita nera, ciglia finte e mascara.

I applied us usual my eyeprimer first, then I applied just on the first half of the lid a white base (a simple eyepencil), starting from the inner corner. There I applied Sensuelle using a small, stiff brush; then I applied Sugar on approximately 3/4 of the lid - avoiding the outer part. I applied Juno Moon first on that empty zone of the lid, blending it into Sugar to create a smooth and soft gradient. After that, I applied it on the outer corner and blending it gently into the crease. I created a V shape, smoothing the edges with Circle aka the transition colour of this look; on my brow bone, as always, I applied Antique White.

Lastly, I completed the look by applying eyeliner, black eyepencil on the waterlines, false lashes and mascara.

Voilà! L'avevo detto che era semplicissimo! :D
Sono molto soddisfatta di questo look, trovo che queste tonalità stiano davvero benissimo assieme *_* Inoltre AMO la tonalità intermedia che si è creata unendo Sugar e Juno Moon, sembra quasi un ombretto a sé stante, spettacolo *__*

Per il look da sirena di oggi ho deciso di creare qualcosa adatto ad una creatura degli oceani più profondi, più bui e misteriosi - un make up scuro ma non troppo, cromaticamente vicino al Dark Ariel Inspired Look che avevo realizzato lo scorso Dicembre ma diverso per finish utilizzati e piccoli dettagli.

Today's mermaid look is inspired by deep sea creatures, who live in dark and mysterious waters - so I made a dark look, similar in terms of shades to the Dark Ariel Inspired Look I created last December, but different when it comes to finish and details.

Dopo Calypso, Selfish, Sugar+Sensuelle e Cleo, ho deciso di incentrare un look su Under Pressure - che aveva già avuto un ruolo da co-protagonista nei look con Selfish e Cleo). Desideravo però renderlo protagonista assoluto usandolo puro sulla palpebra mobile, in modo da farlo risaltare al massimo.

Stavolta il co-protagonista è Calypso che ho deciso di usare nella piega, dove in genere avrei posizionato un Satin oppure un opaco... Ma ero troppo curiosa di accostarlo ad Under Pressure, ed ero sicura che avrebbe aggiunto una nota preziosa al look. La sua texture Superbright, imbevuta di brillini, lo rende un po' insidioso da usare nella piega - nulla che un buon pennello da applicazione ed un buon blender non possano gestire, comunque. E vale la pena perderci un po' di tempo, perché fa veramente un effettone. 

After Calypso, Selfish, Sugar+Sensuelle and Cleo, I decided it was time to dedicate a look to Under Pressure - which was already featured in the Selfish's and Cleo's looks... But I wanted it to be the leading shade in another makeup, used pure all over the lid, to make it stand out.

This time the co-star is Calypso, used as the crease shade - where I'd usually use a Satin or a Matte colour... But I wanted to see how those two shadows looked together, and I was pretty sure it would add a precious touch to the makeup. Its Superbright texture, filled with sparkles, makes it a little tricky to be used in the crease... But quite easy to deal with a good eyeshadow brush and a blender brush. And it's worth the time, the final result is stunning.

Dopo aver applicato il primer occhi ho iniziato applicando Under Pressure su tutta la palpebra mobile, arrivando fino all'angolo esterno e tornando indietro applicandolo anche nella palpebra inferiore. Ho ammorbidito preventivamente i bordi con un blender, dopodiché ho cominciato ad applicare Calypso nella piega con un pennello da ombretto, per poi sfumarlo con un blender; ho fatto "metti la cera, togli la cera" per un po', dopodiché ho applicato Juno Moon nel punto in cui Calypso e Under Pressure si incontrano, per migliorare la transizione. Ho sfumato Calypso all'angolo esterno creando una forma a V molto allungata ma anche molto sfumata, e l'ho applicato nella palpebra inferiore posizionandolo sotto Under Pressure - per ricreare come un riflesso della sfumatura nella palpebra superiore. 

Ho usato Circle come colore di transizione (è perfetto abbinato a Calypso e Juno Moon per tale scopo), sotto le sopracciglia ho applicato come sempre Antique White e come punto luce all'angolo interno ho applicato Sensuelle - stavolta da solo. 
Ho completato il makeup tracciando una classica linea di eyeliner, applicando la matita nella rima interna, le ciglia finte ed il mascara.

After applying the eyeprimer I went ahead by applying Under Pressure all over the lid, up to the outer corner and further, then going back and applying it in the lower lid, close to the lashline. I softened the edges with a blending brush, then I applied Calypso into the crease with an eyeshadow brush, and then I blended it out. After some "wax on, wax off" I applied Juno Moon where the two previous shadows meet, to improve the transition. I blended Calypso towards the outer corner creating a long, soft V shape. I applied it also on the lower lid, below Under Pressure - to replicate the upper blending like a mirror reflection. 

I used Circle as transition colour (it's perfect as such with Calypso and Juno Moon), under the eyebrows I applied Antique White and as inner corner highlighter I used Sensuelle - alone, this time. 

Then I completed the look applying eyeliner, a black eyepencil in the waterlines, false lashes and mascara.

Altro look che ho amato e che non volevo togliermi di dosso XD È scuro senza essere cupo, grazie al tocco di luce e colore di Calypso; la luce emanata dal colore nella piega non prende il sopravvento su Under Pressure, anzi, i due si bilanciano bene a vicenda... Come la luce del sole che filtra attraverso la superficie del mare, ma non riesce ad illuminare del tutto le profondità degli abissi. 

This is another most loved look I didn't want to remove at the end of the day XD Deep but not really dark, thanks to Calypso's touch of shine and colour; its brightness doesn't overcome Under Pressure, they both balance each other... Like the sunlight, filtering through the surface, that can't really light up the deepest abysses.

Riprendiamo coi la serie di make up incentrati sulla nuova colleziona di Nabla, la Mermaid Collection, con questo look che non è ispirato ad una sirena ben precisa... Ma più che altro a ciò che evocano le descrizioni di Cleo e Under Pressure: un tesoro sommerso il primo, le profondità marine il secondo.

E così questo look rappresenta un tesoro sommerso che scintilla sott'acqua, custodito gelosamente da una sirena nelle profondità di abissi misteriosi.

Back to mermaid inspired look focused on the new Mermaid Collection by NABLA Cosmetics - this time with a makeup not quite inspired by a particular mermaid... But primarily on Cleo's and Under Pressure's descriptions: an hidden treasure the first, the deep sea the second. 

So this look it's inspired by a submerged treasure that shines underwater, jealously held by a mermaid in the deep of a mysterious abyss.

Il primo look vedeva protagonista Calypso, il secondo look invece era focalizzato su Selfish ed il terzo aveva come star la combo Sugar+Sensuelle. Per questo quarto look ho deciso di lasciare spazio a Cleo, l'oro egizio di questa collezione.

Il co-protagonista, ovviamente, è Under Pressure, anche questa volta posizionato nella zona di piega e angolo esterno. Non ho aggiunto altri colori (angolo interno a parte, il cui punto luce è formato ancora una volta dalla combo Sugar + Sensuelle) proprio per evitare di  distrarre l'attenzione dai due ombretti principali.

Calypso was the main shadow in the first look of this series, Selfish starred in the second one and the Sugar+Sensuelle combo was the focus of the third look - so this time I chose Cleo, the egyptian gold from the collection, to be the main shade of this make up. 

Under Pressure co-stars, obviously, again used on the crease/outer corner. I decided not to add any other colour because I wanted the look to be focused on these two shades. The only addition I made was the Sugar+Sensuelle duo on the inner corners.

Dopo aver steso il primer occhi ho iniziato applicando Cleo sulla palpebra mobile, fermandomi appena prima dell'angolo esterno, e l'ho applicato anche nella palpebra inferiore. Ho applicato Under Pressure partendo dall'angolo esterno, spingendomi nella piega fin quasi a toccare l'angolo interno. Non l'ho sfumato con Cleo, in modo che risultasse un cut crease definito ma non troppo - e, invece della forma a C, ho creato una piccola forma a V netta nel punto in cui i due si incontrano alla fine della palpebra mobile. Anche la sfumatura esterna è a V, molto evanescente per creare contrasto con le forme definite sulla palpebra. Il colore di transizione con cui ho perfezionato la sfumatura è Fossil, mentre sotto l'arcata sopraccigliare ho applicato Antique White, come al solito.

Nell'angolo interno ho applicato Sugar a cui ho sovrapposto Sensuelle e ho quindi completato il look coi soliti step conclusivi: eyeliner, matita nera, ciglia finte e mascara.

After the usual eyeprimer step I started by applying Cleo all over the lid, avoiding the outer corner, and I also applied it on the lower lid. Then, I applied Under Pressure starting from the empty outer corner, going back into the crease, almost touching the inner corner. I didn't blend the two shades together - I wanted it to be kind of a not-too-sharp cut crease. I created a tiny V shape on the lid, where Under Pressure meets Cleo, instead of the more classic moon/C shape. I also created a V shaped blending - this time soft and evanescent, to contrast the well-defined shapes on the lid. I used Fossil as transition colour and Antique White on my brow bone, as usual. On the inner corners I applied the winning combo Sugar + Sensuelle on top of it, then I completed the look with the usual, final step: eyeliner, black eyepencil, falsies and mascara.

Sono molto soddisfatta di questo look: Cleo è proprio il colore dell'oro di un tesoro, mentre Under Pressure è perfetto per aggiungere un'atmosfera sottomarina al look - mi piacciono veramente moltissimo abbinati insieme, sicuramente li userò in combo ancora e ancora in futuro! *_* 

I'm pretty satisfied with this look: Cleo is the perfect "treasure gold" you could ask for, and Under Pressure gives that perfect underwater atmosphere - such a good combo, I'll be using them together again for sure! *_*
