♕ Make Up Look ~ Padmé Amidala ♕

I just realized I slightly messed up the blog schedule, lol XD This post was supposed to go online before the previous one... Oh well, no big deal I guess!

I made this look to celebrate May 4th aka the Star Wars Day. It's inspired by my favourite character, Padmé Amidala, formerly Queen Amidala of Naboo.
I actually did the very same look (well, kind of) last year, on the same day - but it never made it to the blog sadly, although I really, really loved it. So I thought: let make it again AND post it on the blog, too.

This look is inspired by my favourite outfit of Padme, the one she wears in the Lake scene on Naboo. It's so unique (as all of her dresses actually), but the thing I love the most is the colour combination: a smooth gradient that starts with a pale yellow and end with a deep purple... And I tried to recreate this gradient on my eyes!

I tried to stick to last year's look as much as I could, but I deliberately changed a few things: first of all I used a different shadow to create the eyeliner and I added some glitters on the lower waterline... Because, in case you haven't noticed, I'm slightly obsessed with glitters lately XD

After priming my lids I started off by applying a series of shadows starting from the inner corner and moving outwards. First of all, I applied Sensuelle eyeshadow by NABLA Cosmetics on the inner corner; then I applied an old (and discontinued) pale yellow pigment on the inner half of the lid. I applied three different eyeshadows by NABLA in this sequence: Lazy Days, Cattleya and Moonrise. Every time I added a shadow, I made sure I blended it evenly with the previous one. On the outer part of the lid I applied Hopscotch eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics, the I worked on the outer crease shape and shade - I used Mimesis eyeshadow by NABLA to create a soft, well blended V shape. I used whatever was left on the brush on the crease, where I applied Narciso and Peach Velvet (the latter as transition shade).

I followed the same colour scheme on the lower lid too, then I applied the glitters: Delicate on the center and Chewee on the outer part.
In last year's look, to create a metallic eyeliner, I used a mix of different shadows - but this year I had the right eyeshadow to use so I went straight on it! I used Chemical Bond eyeshadow by NABLA (wet, of course: I mixed it with some drops of Fix +). (In case you're wondering why a metallic liner instead of the classical, black one... I did that to represent the dress' metallic details!)
At this point I was pretty much done, all I needed to do was apply false lashes, mascara and define my brows.

But... We're not done yet! After the longest time ever, I did a lip art! I used Vertigo lipstick by NABLA as main lip shade, then I applied a thin coat of lash glue and lastly I pressed the glitters on it - and I used Delicate again to match the eye look!

Last Week's Looks: Kiko, Viseart, Ciate London, and Natasha Denona

I hope everyone had a good week and weekend. I know this post is pretty late, but that's because I was away for Memorial Day weekend and didn't feel like bringing my camera. I've mentioned in previous posts that I have a major surgery (the first of two) coming up and I've been slammed with my busiest time at work. Well, my surgery is this week, in a few days, actually. So, this will be my last weekly looks post for a while, I would think. I'm not totally sure. I'll be taking some time off of work to recover, so hopefully I will be able to write some anti-haul posts if I am feeling up to it.

In terms of makeup, I've just been really enjoying my collection, and it finally feels manageable to me. I couldn't tell you why I necessarily chose the looks I did this week, but that's okay. I just had fun.

Look 1: Kiko 200 Champagne

Champagne on the lid (over Pixie Epoxy) and Viseart Neutral Matte blended into the crease.

Look 2: Viseart

Viseart 8 on the lid, Kat Von D Ludwin blended into the crease, and Kat Von D Succubus padded onto the outer corner.

Look 3: Ciate London Pretty Palette

6 on the lid and 7 blended into the crease.

Look 4: Natasha Denona Nina's Orchid

Nina's Orchid on the lid and Bobbi Brown Camel blended into the crease.

Look 5: Natasha Denona Antique Olive

Antique Olive on the lid and Bobbi Brown Camel blended into the crease.

Kiko 200 Champagne
Status: Favorite

I've written about this shadow before, but it is truly such a favorite of mine. It has a wet and dry formula, but I had never used it "wet" until last week. And by "wet," I mean that I applied it over Pixie Epoxy. And, of course, it looked gorgeous. I've used this shadow plenty dry, and I think it is just lovely. Using it wet just enhanced what was already great about it. I paired it with some of the gray tones in the Viseart Neutral Matte palette, and I think the look came out quite pretty.

Viseart
Staus: Keep

I don't really know what the label this shadow as it is part of a custom palette with a mishmash of shadows. The main shadow is from a Viseart palette, either Paris Nudes or Sultry Muse. The shadow is pretty, but lacks a certain oomph that I have become accustomed to. I may try these under Pixie Epoxy and see what happens. Again, it was a pretty shadow, but if I don't love it the way I love almost everything else in my collection, it will have to go.

Ciate London Pretty Palette
Status: Favorite

I just wrote about this palette last week, so there is no need for me to drone on about it again. I went to an event the evening I wore this look, and I have this odd habit of wearing incredibly light makeup sometimes when I have a special occasion. I also had a very big meeting at work with the head of the organization I work at, and I try to wear light makeup on those days. The color I used (6) is my favorite in the palette, and I think you can probably tell from the amount of wear that the shadow has. Typically I would have added a dark shadow to the outer corner and lower lash line, but, again, I went for as light as possible this day.

Natasha Denona Nina's Orchid
Status: Favorite

I'll start by saying that I think Natasha Denona matte shadows (at least in the 5-pan palettes) are really bad. This one is slightly better than others, but it could be better. The reason it is a favorite is for the color alone. This exact look was my favorite look that I created with the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly palette, and when I decided to declutter that palette, the only reason I was able to was because I had this shadow from Natasha Denona. This is the first time that I actually attempted to recreate that look, and I was exceptionally happy with it. I paired it (of course) with Bobbi Brown Camel, and I thought the look was perfect—exactly what I wanted.

Natasha Denona Antique Olive
Status: Favorite

This is definitely one of my favorite Natasha Denona shadows. It looks quite bronze in this photo, but it is more olive in person. I'm sure there are many other cheaper shadows that look just like this, but I am happy to have this shadow in my collection. I again paired it with Camel because, well, it's the best. I also really like applying Antique Olive in the crease, but I think it looks lovely on the lid. There was a time when I wanted to declutter my Natasha Denona shadows—because the packaging was so bad that I genuinely never wanted to use them. I would still not recommend purchasing these shadows (in large part because of the packaging and the price), and I can't see myself buying anything else from the brand, but since I own these, I do like them for the most part. I am very happy I depotted the shadows and was able to make this one Frankenstein's Monster palette because I have gotten a ton of use out of it. It is made up of palettes I was severely neglecting and considering decluttering, so I am glad that I found a way to put them all together so that they would get use.

My Recycled Makeup Organizer

Acrylic Organizers were so in these days for every makeup addict that loves organizing their makeups and at the same time enjoys seeing each items that they got since acrylics were transparent. I do have a few that can hold lippies and other eye shadows and powders but I had to take extra care for them since they crack easily. Some of my everyday and most used makeups don't even fit in.

A few weeks ago I received 1 kg box full of chocolates from my best friend Kitty from Singapore. That wonderful box contains all my fave sweets in the world. Name it. Twix, Kitkat, two jars of Nutella and Ferrero Rocher, and more sweets. I'm afraid my blood sugar levels will suddenly rise as I approach second trimester. I honestly never liked sweet food, but my pregnant brain keeps controlling my taste buds.

I didn't know my son will love Ferrero Rocher and he finished eating almost 25 pieces of it in just two days. Since Ferrero's packaging is of high quality, it's such a waste to just throw it away. Somehow it reminds me of my makeup organizers and suddenly had a brilliant idea of keeping it as my very own acrylic makeup box.

I used it to organize my most used and everyday makeups, since I have to separate those I use personally from those I use for makeup service. I don't have time to remove the logo so I replaced it with my Beauty Bound Asia sticker.

What's Inside it? Mostly MAC makeups of course, since I really swear by it. The shades were mostly neutrals since we're talking about my everyday/go to holy grail products. My Fix sprays and foundie bottles don't fit in, but I have a separate container for them. My other lippies were stored in my other acrylic containers for lippies and powders. You can also use it to store makeup brushes, palettes and jewelries.

Products Inside: Clarins Instant light lipbalm perfector, Becca Shimmering Pressed Powder in Chmapagne Pop, Mac Studio Fix Powder in NC25, Mac concealers, Mac blushes in Fleur Power and Harmony, Mac Browset in Red Chestnut, Mac browliners in Lingering and Brunette, Mac Lip liners in Spice, Naked and Boldly Bare, Mac pro Twisted Mascara, Mac Eyeliners in Smoulder and Stubborn Brown, Mac eyeshadows in Espresso, Texture and Tempting, and my favorite Mac lippies in Lady Be Good, Runway Hit, Kinda Sexy and Velvet Teddy.

Now my makeup's easier to access and just looking at it is a total eye candy. I rarely go out these days so they're also rarely used. I actually want to add up more retro matte liquid lippies since I fell instantly in love with Lady Be Good.

Time to recycle ladies and I'm sure you'll love to do the same. I might get more Ferrero Rocher since I hit two birds with one stone with it. :)

xoxo

♕ Make Up Look ~ Tiny Heart Liner ♕

Today's look is an interesting one, not because of its style/design - but because it was basically the result of an accident that almost lead me to remove it and give up. Instead of doing so, though, I racked my brains and found a way to save what I could - and I end up transforming it from a romantic blended makeup to an editorial kind of look.
And even then I was pretty unsure whether to post it or not... But I ended up loving it more than I anticipated! *-*

As I said, it was supposed to be a romantic and glittery look with fuchsia and purple shades, a soft crease blending and a particular eyeliner - which, by the way, was inspired by @ohsococo. I've seen several of Lilly's looks where the eyeliner had a triangular negative space in the middle - so one day I thought, why not doing the same thing but with a teeny tiny heart?
As for the glitters, this time I wanted to try the shade "Darling" - a coral pink, which here seems quite fuchsia due the eyeshadow I used on the lid beforehand. Another "mistake", in a way, but it still looked pretty cool. I'll be doing a more appropriate makeup to do justice to this shade soon, hopefully!

So, this was the plan, but something went wrong. Long story short, I somehow messed up the crease blending - irreparably. I'm going to describe you the whole process down below, so you can follow along - mishap included.
Make yourself comfortable, grab some tea or a snack - this is going to be a long post!

After priming my lids I started off with the crease blending (don't worry, the mishap will happen later). I used Mimesis eyeshadow by NABLA Cosmetics, I applied it into the crease and outer corner creating a soft rounded shape, and I used Hopscotch eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics as transition shade to smooth the blending. So far so good.
On both upper and lower lids I applied Fashion Addict eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics, while on the inner corner I applied Chit Chat eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics. I also added a touch of Mimesis on the lower lid.
Then I moved to the glitters application: I used Darling pressed glitters by GlitterTubes all over the upper lid. And again, so far so good.
Eyeliner time! Tattoo Liner in Trooper by KVD is crucial for this kind of precise work, thanks to its fine brush tip - the finest of them all. To achieve this particular effect I split the application in two parts: first of all I drew the second half of the line, winging it out. Then I drew the first half, making sure to leave a triangular space towards the centre. There I drew the tiny heart - and it was tricky not because of its small size, but because of the glitters underneath.

And here comes the mishap. When I was done with the liner, I decided to go back to the crease blending to add some depth. I'm not sure what went wrong honestly: either the brush I used was still slightly wet or it had some darker colour on it. I don't know. Anyway, when I tried to apply some more Mimesis to build up the shade... The horror *said with Sheldon's voice*
There was a sort of streak of a slightly darker colour that would go away, no matter how much I tried to blend it away. After several minutes of struggle, I had to give up: the blending was ruined and I couldn't fix it. I was so disappointed, because I was almost done, the liner was cute... I didn't feel like removing it at all! I could have given up on the blending, but I could still work with what I had to fix the look somehow.
The first thing I did was removing the damaged blending, avoiding the upper lid area, the glitters and of course the liner. At this point I had half of the eye empty, and I was wondering about what to do next. Try to recreate the blending? Not likely.
Finally, I had an idea. I applied Mimesis on the inner corner of my eye, next to the nose bridge and eyebrow, then I blended it using Hopscotch.
Using Trooper again, I traced a thin, 'S' like shape above the crease (basically following the neat border between the nude and the glittery area). There I applied just a touch of Antique White to even out the skin, then I went back to Fashion Addict and Darling, applying them close to the second line.
At this point I was pretty much done - for real, this time. Usual final steps: black eyepencil on the waterline, black shadow (Nocturne) on the lower lashiline false lashes (another pair by Ardell, these are Glamour n° 106)... and mascara, of course.

♕ Make Up Look ~ Moonlight Cut Crease ♕

Let's have a small break from graphic liners (but they will be back veeery soon), today I have a cut crease look to show you! A round cut crease, to be more precise. I haven't done one in a while - like, more than one year.

I named this look "Moonlight" because it makes me think of the moon's reflection on the sea... Or the moon shining, outlined against the night sky.

I specifically made this look to try GlitterTubes' pressed glitters in Twinkle, one of my favourite shade ever. That's why I avoided any graphic eyeliner stile - I wanted Twinkle to be the protagonist of the look, and I feared that an elaborate liner could distract from its beauty.

And finally you can really see Boo Berry's true colour! I tend to use it in combo with Neptune - they look great together, but Neptune always alters Boo Berry's shade... To the point it almost looks a completely different colour. But this time I used it alone and you can clearly see its beautiful denim shade!

After priming my lids I started off by applying the main lid shade - that would serve as a sort of "base" for the glitters; I used Frozen eyeshadow by NABLA Cosmetics, a pure silver, as I don't own any shadow that is even remotely close to Twinkle... So I thought silver would be a good compromise. I applied it on my lid and on the crease too, starting to create the rounded shape.
Then I moved on to the crease blending: I used Boo Berry eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics as main shade, applying it with a pencil brush first and then diffusing the colour with a blending brush. At this point the silver shape was a little messed up, so I re-applied Frozen where needed.
I intensified the crease shade using Baltic by NABLA - with a pencil brush at first, but then I defined the round shape with a tiny teeny brush (Accent Brush by Real Technique, in case you're wondering). This small brush allowed me to be very precise and to achieve this well defined shape.

When I was happy with the round cut crease, I applied glitters. As I said previously, I used Twinkle pressed glitters by GlitterTubes - and I applied it with a flat brush (Precision Crease by Spectrum Collections) all over the silver shape; I avoided the lashline area, as I hadn't applied eyeliner yet.
On the lower lid I applied/blended Boo Berry, defined the lashline with Nocturne, and then I applied some glitters there too (Sonic by GlitterTubes).
I applied eyeliner - this time nothing crazy, just a classical winged line. Of course, I used KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper - do I need to state that this is my one and only eyeliner from now on?? :p
Final touches: I applied a pinkish shadow on my inner corner (Sugar), a matte ivory shade on my brow bone (Antique White, of course!), a black eyepencil on my waterline, falsies and mascara.

Halted Gigs And The Main Reason

Hello! How you doin' ladies? So upon checking my last blog post it was dated February, and now is a long over due post. Aside from the fact that I'm too lazy these days, the real reason that has been pulling me back (yup including my brain and my fingers) from writing a new article is my current sensitive condition. I'm currently 16 weeks preggo! Yes another baby on the way and we're really excited, however the preggo problems started to make me more dysfunctional, as I was diagnosed last month and admitted for experiencing such terrible condition for soon to be mommies: the frightening Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which simply means severe nausea and vomiting with food aversion resulting to dehydration. I'm a bit fine now, headaches were still an everyday occurrence that I have to endure, though nausea has miraculously diminished. It was hard, I was so ill for three months that my makeup gigs and guesting were halted for a moment. I haven't been out for almost three months.

It's hard, as much as I want to go out or just blog my heart away or put some makeup on, I'm too lazy that I'd rather stay at home, roll up in bed with my first born Draven and pig out all day. It saddened me that I had to cancel my March to May makeup gigs. I was booked for graduation makeup, weddings and more, but I had to say no coz I know for sure I really couldn't make it. I also had wedding inquiries this June to July and I have to refer them to my fellow MUAs instead.

Don't worry as soon as the baby's out by late October or early November, I'll be back with guestings and gigs, jampacked with my new MAC makeups and new tools. I even got better plans by next year so this year's the only time to rest.

As soon as I feel better I might start blogging and do MOTDS for myself or for other people.
I'll hone up my skills while I'm idle.

Thanks for reading lovelies! I'll take a rest now!
xoxo

♕ Make Up Look ~ Ocean Waves ♕

Another graphic liner look today - I swear, the next one will feature a different technique and a more classical winged line XD
After the warm, fiery tones of my previous make up, which resembled a flame, I created a cool-toned look that flows like ocean waves. And of course I couldn't help but adding dramatic eyeliner - a double winged liner! Like, one wing isn't enough... Let's make two!

My idea behind this look basically was... Let's see how far I can goo with KVD's Tattoo Liner. I'm really enjoying this eyeliner, makes me want to try new styles and designs every single day *_*

So, for this look I designed a double winged liner - and each wing goes back towards the crease, staying parallel to each other. LOVE IT! Never thought it would so pretty.
Regarding the colours choice... Like I said, the previous look features fiery, red/orange shade - so I felt the urge to go back to my beloved aquas and blues XD I included some of GlitterTubes', of course, and there's a new entry too: I got some false lashes by Ardell (I discovered I have a retailer here, so I plunged into it XD). In today's look I used those I'm currently liking the most, the Wispies! Need to get a couple of pairs more...
The final look reminds me of the ocean waves, hence the title ♥

After priming my lid I applied an aqua shade all over my lid, as base colour for the lid; for this purpose, I used Atmosphere eyeshadow by NABLA Cosmetics (which I also applied on the first half of the lower lid). The create the soft crease blending I used Shark Bait eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics, a beautiful matte teal shade. To add depth to the crease, I used a mix of two eyeshadows by NABLA, Under Pressure and Babylon (and applied this mix on the second half of my lower lid too).
I used Shore Thing by MUG as transition shade (I'm addicted to this eyeshadow! ♥), Zoe on my tear duct, Nocturne on my lower lashline and Antique White on my brow bone (all three are by NABLA).
Then I applied the glitters, both by GlitterTubes: Minted on the upper lid and Splash along the lower lashline. When applying Minted, I made sure I was leaving enough empty space for the eyeliner - as I don't like applying the liner on the glitters.

Now let's get on to the eyeliner design - needless to say, I used Tatto Liner in Trooper by Kat Von D. As a first step, I traced the line as I normally do, starting from the inner corner and moving outwards, thickening the line as I went. I stopped before the outer corner and started drawing the second, lower wing, starting from where the lower lid meets the outer corner. The tricky part was drew the wing trying to keep in mind (and visualize) where the second one would go. I took my time, I didn't want to mess it up. When the lower wing was done, I went back to the main line and started drawing the upper wing; it was easier this time, as the lower one was ready and visibile. I left some space between the two, with I later lightened with Antique White, in order to make it more noticeable.
When I was happy with both wings, I added the curved design: I started from each tip and moved back towards the crease - following it, not getting into it. Tricky process one again, as I had to visualize where I wanted to place both lines when I was drawing the first one. I started with the upper one, this time, which follows the blending, framing it. The second and lower one is shorter, and closer to the crease.
It took me a while (and I mean it), but to me it was worth it. I am so proud of this eyeliner style *_*

Final touches: black eyepencil on the waterline, false lashes (Wispies lashes by Ardell) and mascara!
