Emo Days No More!! Happy Bug is Back to Blog

Happy Birthday to the most beautiful, sexy, smart and lovely girl in the world... ME!!!

Yey!! I turned 26 and I want to reward myself with all my hardwork..
but then I realized that it's mom who does all the hardwork...^^
I really want to apologize for being so emo these past few days.
I guess I'm really just stressed out with everything that is happening with my life.
Some events are just too overwhelming, but in the end I'm still happy.
So for today's blog it's basically about keeping up with what
happened to me this June, and things that really made me feel special.

Well I wanna start off with one gift I rewarded for myself.
I don't have enough money to splurge on expensive clothes,
but there are things that I might possibly like, and when I like it I will do everything to get it.
I rarely see shoes that I like these days since I'm pretty much obsessed with makeups.

My admiration for the Kardashians never end,
and I do a Kardashian reality show marathon every night,
though I don't know much about clothes & branded goods,
I drool and lust over their expensive designer shoes and bags.

There's this particular ankle boots that I really want the first time I saw it worn by Kim.

I always try to look for replicas or something that looks close to it but I haven't seen any.
Even if I want to have the same shoes that she's wearing, omg it's Prada
.

It costs a whopping $890 and you can purchase it in Saks.
If I convert it into peso, let's say the value of 1 dollar is 43 pesos,
then 890 multiplied by 43 is equivalent to 38,270 pesos!!! Enough to send me back to college for one semester!!

Fortunately, there is this local online store and I found the "almost" exact replica of this shoes that I've been dying to have. Compared to the original, the heels and the platform are not as high as Prada's, and I'm fine with it
coz anything higher than 4 inches will definitely break my ankle, and in worst case, I might break my neck from possibly tripping accidentally due to my extreme clumsiness.

I received my order after a month and when I took it out from its
packaging, all I can say is whoooaaa it's so surreal!!
I'm not sure though, on when will I be able to use it.
It's just sitting there on my shoe rack..

So now, what happened on my birthday?
It was stressful. It's simple, but really a stressful one.
My birthday is always composed of 3 celebrations.
Pre- intra- post.

June 22nd - I promised my officemates that I'm gonna treat them
so I brought a dinner. We're only just 6 employees in our comfy office.
I told my other co-workers to bring their hubbies.

June 23rd - I met my friend whom I know since I was six years old.
I'm so touched he wanted to see me prior to my birthday coz he bought a present.
It's the shirt that I like.
It was used during the historical star formation from my
previous Alma Mater.

I wanted to treat him with lots of foods from McDonald's
since he requested for it.. but then he only asked for a happy meal
and a large float coz he's been suffering from tummy pains for 2 weeks
in a row. Poor him.

Then after meeting Russell I went out for a dinner with my cousins.
After having fun and munching on foods, we went to different makeup stores
and tried swatching lippies at the back of our hands and on our lips.
I really enjoy hanging out with them. They've grown so fast
and they can travel anywhere, and ride a public vehicle comfortably no matter how far
the destination is, whereas for me,
I couldn't still cross the street. They're smarter and have better sense
of direction. I therefore think they will succeed better than me
in the future.

Around 1:30am of June 24th I went online
and I'm happy to see a lot of birthday greetings and wishes.
My boyfriend called, my family's still awake.. but I was sad that time.
I was thinking of my two friends, who had been with me
since I was little, and now they went to Singapore to work.
It's my first time to celebrate my birthday without them.

Then I was tagged on facebook that there's a video
that my bestfriend had made.
I thought it was just a typical picture compilation.
So the video starts with a simple greeting,
then my pictures with my family,
boyfriend, bestfriend and other friends....
I was literally holding back my tears....
coz mom and dad & my bro's also watching it...
too embarassed to bawl.. and they'll gonna troll on me
if I cry.. I knew it..

but the freaking video is 8 minutes long!!!!!!
In the middle of the vid I can't help it.
I couldn't hold back my tears,
my throat's already dry and my eyes are about
to pop out!! Damn, I cried!!

At first my Mom & Dad are like:

then mom's like:

then dad's like:

and my bro's like:

I was so embarassed but definitely touched.
I couldn't contain both my happiness and sadness.

The state of ambivalence made me like this:

I miss my bestfriends.
I wish they were with me, having fun on my special day.
I only communicate with them through skype.

On the brighter side, I do received a few cute gifts.
Getting old means getting less, but I'm happy anyway.

Russell gave me a shirt from De La Salle University's
Human Star Event.

when worn:

Nikki gave me two pairs of cute earrings,
which best defines my personality..

After using the second generation of iphone for quite sometime
and still enjoying it, I got a new phone thanks to my
boyfriend..

These days I'm so focused with work.. busy pretending to be busy.
I have so many things in mind and lots of plan to accomplish
before this year ends.

Next on my wish list is everything Chanel!!!

I want a 2.55 flap bag..

A cc logo earrings with pearl drop

A foundation compact..

And I really do want to have these from Louboutin!!!

The Impossible Dream.
I'm not rich, I'm always broke, but it's free to dream. :)

Photoshoot: Try ALL the looks!

I haven't had a model in a long time, but I was able to finally lure someone to be guinea pig for my makeup experiments :D
We did three different looks, and this was the first one:

For the eyes I used:
-Sugarpill Bulletproof (lid)
 Poison Plum (crease)
2am (blending)
Acidberry   (lower lashline)
- TBN glitters Pixie (upper lid)
 Neon Yellow (lower lashline).

The lashes are Illamasqua's most perfect lashes ever, Decadence lashes.

On the lips is MakeupGeek's lipstick Famous, and blush is Illamasqua's Morale.

Second look was much simpler, something pin-upish:

MakeupGeek eyeshadows:
Beaches and Cream
Purely Naked
Latte & Mocha

Lips:
MakeupGeek Elegant
ColorClub Red Dress lipgloss

Bluesh is Illamasqua Naked Rose

And then the final crazy look, mainly this was inspired by the wig.. :

Eyes:
Sugarpill Mochi (lid)
Velocity (crease, outer corner)
Tako (Around the eyes)
Darling (sprinkled around eyes)
Royal Sugar  (sprinkled around eyes)
Upper lashes are # 159 from Marlliss and lower lashes are Paperself lashes called Small Peonies

Lips are Illamasqua Apocalips mixed with Illamasqua Violate lipgloss.

It was so fun to do makeup and photograph again, own face can get boring after a while :D

Review & Swatches: Lime Crime Uniliners

Finally, the anticipated Lime Crime liquid liners, Uniliners, are here.
They come in seven different and some unusual shades, including orange and greeny yellow!

The package is Lime Crime's usual style, unique and fun (and this time without unicorns!), purple cardboard box with swirls, twirls and spiderwebs:

Each box is labeled with the shade's name on top:

The name of the liner is in the bottom of the container:

Basic info:

Net weight: 1.3 ml / 0.04 fl. oz
Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Behenoxy PEG-10 Dimethicone, Acrylates Copolymer, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Capryl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Silica, Simethicone. Available colors:
QUILL, ORCHIDACEOUS, LUNAR SEA, CITREUSE, 6th ELEMENT, BLUE MILK , LAZULI

First thoughts:

My god, they are so TINY!

I took a photo of them beside a measuring tape, both with centimeters and inches:

And a more universal measuring method, with standard-sized MAC lipstick:

As you can see, t-i-n-y.

Many of you might be upset about the price compared to the amount of the product, so I made a small comparison between a few liners and their prices:

Lime Crime Uniliner: $13,99 1.3ml / 0.04 US fl oz  = price per 10ml ~$107,62
MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner: $18,50 1.8 ml / 0.06 US fl oz price per 10ml ~$102.78
Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner: $23,00 1,7 ml /0.058  US fl oz  = price per 10ml ~$135,29
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner: $19 1,7ml /0.058 US fl oz = price per 10ml  ~$111,76

Illamasqua Precision Ink: $27,50 1.8ml / 0.06 US fl oz = price per 10ml ~ $152,78

OK, it's slightly pricier than MAC (and we all know that MAC is quite pricey), but surprisingly it's cheaper than UD, MUFE or Illamasqua. Of course there are cheap brands like NYX, Milani and Wet'n'Wild, but I tried to pick products around the same amount etc here.

Liners:

Glossy black. The darkest black you've ever experienced!

The finish is very similar like in Illamasqua's Precision Ink Abyss, only this isn't as lasting as Abyss.
The staying power of Quill is the worst of the bunch. It's the only one that smudges when wiped over, even when it's dry. On my lids it stays well though, both with primer, and without primer. It's really pigmented and shiny. Not glittery, but kinda like PVC.
Personally this was the most "meh" from these liners, since you can get (even shiny) black liner from almost everywhere.

LAZULI - bright blue liquid eyeliner
Bright blue that leans slightly purple, inspired by lapis lazuli. Enhances brown eyes. Matte finish.

Lazuli is a fun color that is kinda of a mix of purple and blue. It has the tiniest purple sparkle in it, but the base color is kinda darkish electric blue. The sparkles don't appear when used, only when looked closely enough in sunlight.
Again, it's quite pigmented, with one layer it covers pretty well.  Unlike Quill, this doesn't smudge when wiped over.

ORCHIDACEOUS - violet-purple liquid eyeliner
Bright violet-purple. Matte finish.

Orchidaceous is pink-purple liner. The coverage in this isn't as good as many other Uniliners, but not bad either. Like Lazuli, this also has tiny sparkles in it, but they really don't show up when used.

LUNAR SEA - pure white liquid eyeliner
Pure, matte white.

Lunar Sea is matte true white. It's again pigmented, and looks really similar as Illamasqua's Scribe liner, though this isn't nearly as lasting. This doesn't smudge, but it's not waterproof like Scribe.
I've heard that this tends to "crack" when used over eyeshadow, and I have seen some small cracking when using this myself. Again, one layer is enough to cover well.

Pale sky-blue. Matte finish.

Blue milk is truly light blue, it reminds me of cloudless sky. It's super pigmented and super bright. Doesn't smudge.
Surprisingly this has become one of my favourite Uniliners, it's a super easy way to make a simple makeup to really pop.

CITREUSE - yellow-green liquid eyeliner
Bright, nearly neon chartreuse. Matte finish.

Citreuse is probably my least favourite color from these, mainly because I find it hard to match the color with anything. But maybe that's just me. :P
Citreuse is again pigmented, covers well with one layer, and is bright. However, even though it's bright, I find the color a bit "dirty looking" which I'm not a huge fan of. If it would be a shade more to green or yellow, it could be perfect. But that's just a matter of taste, there's nothing wrong with the product itself.

6th ELEMENT - orange liquid eyeliner
Vivid 'Fanta' orange, Leeloo would be proud! Enhances blue and grey eyes. Matte finish.

6th element was the color I was most excited about, I have a weird thing for oranges :D
The color is amazing, true bright orange, but in some cases this needs another layer of color to apply evenly.
This is the most "shimmery" of these liners, it looks kinda pearly.

Swatches:

Blue Milk, Orchidaceous
Lazuli, 6th Element
Quill, Citreuse

Lunar Sea

In sunlight:
Top row, from left to right: Lunar Sea, Quill , Lazuli, Blue Milk
lower row, from left to right: Citreuse, 6th Element, Orchidaceous

One layer over black base:
From left to right: Lunar Sea, Citreuse, 6th Element, Orchidaceous, Lazuli, Blue Milk, Quill

Demonstration of the smudgeproofness, and how Quill is the only one that really smudges (dry cotton pad):

And about the waterproofness (just water sprayed over liners):

Overall opinion:

Again, I think Lime Crime has done a good job with these. There are not many good colored liners (IMO) available, and these are quite unique colors (except Quill maybe).

I was surprised about the overall price range of the liquid liners (the "chart" mentioned earlier) and that while these are so tiny, they aren't in the top of the price chart.

Personally I would like them to be a bit more waterproof, but I know some don't like waterproof products.

Get them from Lime Crime, they ship internationally

Look done with these:

Super Mario look with Quill, Lunar Sea & Citreuse
The Simpsons look with Blue Milk, Citreuse, Lunar Sea & Quill
Snow White look with Quill & Lazuli

MUG Shadows and Citreuse
Orchidaceous
6th Element, Orchidaceous & Quill

This was a review of Lime Crime's liquid liners.
This was NOT a review of the company, company's owner(s) or how they handle problems with customers or anything.
I'm aware of all the drama, and if you want to know more about it, use google or go to Ana's blog
